I wonder how many of us are getting a huge amount of traffic. My numbers have been increasing steadily, but I’m not seeing the gazillions I think some were expecting.
In order to provide good quality content, I’ve taken time out of development of my main site and my own product and given my full attention to develop my blog and the content within it; bearing in mind I’m totally new to blogging, Content 2.0 or social networking in its various forms.
In doing so, I also missed another contest where the winner gets $20,000. Too late now, but I’ll be watching next time.
My home site’s Alexa ranking has been steadily increasing over the year, still not in the top 500,000 – but moving closer to that point. I find it helpful to see who visits my site and quantcast is a great service for learning about your traffic too.
Other notes: this ftp business with Filezilla has me filibustered. I simply can’t seem to get my site directory to the point where I can upload what I want WHERE I want it. Mind you I did find a way to upload one file at a time.
Sure miss my SiteSell with the sitebuilder, file manager, SEO tools, RSS feed, instant blog, and the whole nine yards all rolled into one at an exceptional price – and you can get 2 sites for the price of 1 until Christmas. Would have made the set up easier to a point.
However, it is good to learn various other methods – from scratch and the experience is invaluable in learning about what others are doing, how they’re doing it, and for the people I’m meeting. I mean it.
Each of you that has emailed me or sent comments my way – whether they’re good, bad or otherwise is really appreciated. As Alex says – we tend to fail forward.
It’s been a long day … and I see it’s snowing again … hey who needs the gym to work out?
Cheers,
Ange
