Traffic Strategy 1: (Of My Traffic Evolution)
Today was beautifully bright with the sun streaming in my office window, and glittering snow visible just out of the corner of my eye. While waiting for the cabbage rolls I had just made (wish me luck – I haven’t made those things since I was a kid) I dug in deep to researching traffic, content, long tail issues for the search engines, and remembered much of what SiteSell’s Ken Envoy tried to drill into my head and roll it all up together with what Alex has been striving for us to get.
Among what I had learned and not done, and what I’ve learned and haven’t done yet here are 5 parts to my new Traffic Strategy 1 of my new Traffic Strategies-The Evolution.
1) Get backlinks – these are the direct “back-roads” which the search engines will “discover” directly back to your site or blog. Hence, Alex’s sage advice to all of us: to visit each other’s blogs, comment on each other’s progress, help each other with our frustrations, critique one another and add each other to our blogrolls.
2) Use keywords in your blog post title, in your introductory and your closing paragraphs and use variations of your keyword or keyword phrase in the main body. (And as a rule of thumb, use your exact keyword no more than 3 times or risk a search engine slap)
3) Bookmark your blog posts to several social directories (I’ll put together a list of these, which I’ll post tomorrow), and place a link to that post.
4) Add those graphics (help!), audio, video, banners, etc to enliven your blog and create interest in addition to great content.
5) And don’t forget that RSS feed! (still working on it)
It’s been a couple of hours of research, and going back over some of my notes from last spring and from the chill in the air, my fire is almost out and it’s time to check on supper.
Let me know it you’re doing any of these, or have any tips you’d like to add to Traffic Strategy 1, or social directories you’d like to recommend.

Hi Angela!
Looks like some good steps on building traffic to your site. I’m glad your getting started and I hope you see some success with your steps very soon.
I need to get to it with writing my steps too. I have it in my head and on paper. I’ve started to implement the steps too.. but I need to show them off so that people can see what I’m doing.
It looks like this is your primary blog. When I clicked your name in one of the comments somewhere I was directed to another site with no theme setup or anything. Maybe your should only focus on getting traffic to one blog and not run two or more blogs at the same time?
I’ll ba back on your blog again soon!
