hair pulling problems

If Alex Jeffreys pushed me out of my comfort zone to get my first blog up and running, his request that I ftp files with Filezilla to my host and website definitely pushed me off the cliff.

I had a host provider that supposedly had all the key features I needed. And hey, I’ve done an ftp or two with my old FrontPage 2000 program – but that program is absolutely antiquated. Too be honest I was a bit frightened to even use that old program for possible new issues.

I bit the bullet. I tried to ftp a couple of times. Well, that description is being nice. Actually quit after about 6 hours non-stop, had a coffee and went to bed. I was fuming.

First thing in the morning I took another look at my host provider – absolutely no support at all and some of the install plug-ins were missing. Solution? Fire them.

I needed something that could get me up and running quickly and to be honest I wasn’t too sure about a hosting company that is off our continent, and I want to support those businesses where I am closest to, especially in these economic times.

I found several different hosting companies and found one that is gold and has many happy customers, great support and excellent video tutorials. It took 5 minutes to sign up and under 15 minutes more to ftp the files I needed. And in under another 2 minutes my blog was up and running. Yippee!

Thank you Hostmonster!

(Best part? – it’s only $5.95/month!)

OK, Alex I asked – now how does anyone even know about my blog? Traffic he says. What? From Where? “But” he says – “there’s a bit of work for you to do yet.”

So today’s 3 top items to focus on are : 1) inputting a graphic relative to what I’m about 2) inputting my url to google 3) add google analytics and well – he’s got a list that will take me some time.

OK, OK. I’ll have faith, I had purchased some expensive “guru” dreams before and gave up on them. This is the last straw.

I’ve bet the farm on Alex and promised to do what he says.
You are witness to how I actually progress – or as Alex says – “We all fail – but we fail forward”.

      Hi Ross,

Alex’s coaching has been coming along. My traffic was a little slow to start but is picking up.
